International Women’s Day (IWD) 2024 is only a few days away! This issue of Equality Matters will get you ready with toolkits and resources to take part in this year’s theme – Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress. You’ll also find info to brush up on your 2SLGBTQI+ terminology, new tools to help youth take action to end gender-based violence (GBV), a story of an organization leading the way for inclusive science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) workplaces, and much more.

Celebrate International Women’s Day!
Join us on March 8th to celebrate IWD 2024! The Government of Canada’s theme this year is Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress. IWD is a time to celebrate the inspiring women and girls in your life and throughout Canada while remembering that advances in gender equality are an effective way to build healthier, more prosperous, and more inclusive communities.
Celebrate IWD 2024 with us and download the Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE) toolkit, which includes virtual backgrounds, social media graphics, and learning resources. You can join the discussion on social media by using the hashtags #InvestInWomen and #IWD2024.

The Provincial Freeman, a paper in Windsor, Ontario from 1853 to 1857, was co-founded by Mary Ann Shadd Cary, the first Black woman publisher in North America and the first woman publisher in Canada. Dedicated to anti-slavery, temperance, and general literature, this weekly newspaper covered the activities and issues relevant to Black Canadians and their communities in Canada.
